These pass-through chambers are designed for installation in a fire-rated cleanroom or laboratory wall. They allow transfer of materials into and out of the controlled environment, and their rugged interlock mechanism offers high reliability with no maintenance. The electropolished all-304 stainless steel construction and continuous-seam welds ensure a clean environment compatible with cleanroom standards.
Fire-Rated Access Doors
Each chamber features dual 2.5" (64 mm)-thick, insulated electropolished 304 stainless steel access panels (doors), each with a recessed pull latch. Insulation is SuperWool® Plus fire-resistant calcium-magnesium-silicate (CMS) fibers. Fire-rated viewing windows afford easy viewing of pass-through chamber contents. Adjustable spring hinges provide self-closure of both doors. These modules bear a UL- listed “10B” label for 1.5 hours in walls (maximum temperature rise to 450°F [232°C] in 30 minutes).
Chambers Tailored to Your Requirements
Modifications are no problem, as long as you keep these points in mind to retain the UL-B fire-rating:
Door thickness cannot be modified
Window dimensions cannot be modified
Pass-through chamber width and height dimensions other than what is shown in the ordering chart are possible, but are restricted to the outside dimensional (OD) range between 24" W x 18" H and 36" W x 48"H

Fire-Rated Pass-Through Installation
Fire-Rated Pass-Through Chambers can be installed in a number of ways, depending on the wall or door that will support them. The cut-out size necessary to support each model size is the chamber width and height with an additional 0.5" (13 mm). Terra offers mounting brackets and hardware to ensure secure mounting. In most cases, a bracket kit provides ample support. Select support brackets for 36"D (914 mm) wall-mount models to brace the larger chamber. Two support brackets are recommended for wide chambers (installed side-by-side on the wall).

Why Such Small Windows?
Terra's fire door is listed under the UL 10B standard, which requires several performance criteria:
Maximum fire exposure of 90 minutes
Maximum temperature rise rating of 232 degrees Celsius in one hour
Fire hose stream test: while being burned, the door is exposed to a fire hose stream to put out the fire
For all three tests, the window needs to sustain test conditions without cracking or allowing smoke or fire penetration. Windows larger than 10" x 10" invalidate the temperature rise rating, which generally requires an exposed glass area of 100 square inches or less, and are much more prone to failure during the fire hose test.
