Purifier® Logic™ Class II Biosafety Cabinets

Biological Safety Cabinet
  • Offered in type A2 configuration that meet all NSF standards (see sidebar below)
  • Offers the largest working area of any biological safety cabinet in its class
  • ECM (Electronically Commutated Motor) Technology precisely controls airflow without the need for sensors or calibration
  • Smart-Start and Night-Smart Systems automate start/stop procedures and blower speeds
  • The LCD information center warns of sudden airflow changes that might indicate an airflow blockage

Purifier® Logic™ Biosafety Cabinets set the standard for safety, performance and ergonomics. These cabinets have been completely redesigned from the Delta Series cabinets they replace. They meet or exceed all the standards set forth by the NSF International, including 99.99% efficient HEPA filters, nominal inflow of 105 fpm, and all positive-pressure ducts surrounded by negative pressure plenums.

Computerized Monitoring of Purifier® Logic™ Class II Biosafety Cabinet Operation

Purifier Logic Biosafety Cabinets utilize Electronically Commutated Motor (EMC) Technology, which precisely controls airflow without the need for airflow sensors. The motor is programmed during the cabinet’s manufacturing process to consistently deliver the precise volume of air required, even as filters load.

A unique line-of-sight LCD information center, which is in constant communication with the ECM, continuously monitors and displays the cabinet’s performance, including remaining HEPA filter life.

Other intelligent safety features include the Smart-Start and Night-Smart Systems. Smart-Start allows the user to program start-up and shut-down procedures such as activation and deactivation of the blower and fluorescent and UV lights when the sash is opened or closed. Automating routine start-up and shut-down procedures assures consistent, operator-independent operation and saves time.

Night-Smart idles the blower at 30% speed or less when the sash is fully closed to help maintain a clear, particulate-free environment inside the cabinet during periods of non-use.

Biological Safety Cabinet Digital Display
The LCD shows bar graph displaying filter life remaining and icons indicting features in operation.

The benefits of the LCD information Center:

  • Easy readability – The LCD is mounted on the interior right side wall at the user’s line of sight for at-a-glance activity monitoring: cabinet function, filter load and features in use.
  • Status line gives descriptive feedback on the systems conditions, such as “OK” or “sash too high.”
  • “Filter Remaining” bar graph – A continuous bar graph depicts percentage of HEPA filter life remaining to provide reassurance and allow the user to accurately and confidently plan future filter replacement.
  • Airflow alert warns of sudden airflow changes, which could indicate an obstruction blocking airflow.

Type A2 Biological Safety Cabinets

The diagram below illustrates the airflow pattern of an A2 Biosafety Cabinet. Type A2 cabinets are suitable for work with agents the require Biosafety Level 1, 2 or 3.  Other appropriate applications include work with antioneplastic drugs, genetic material, carcinogens, allergens and additional substances that generate hazardous airborne particulates.

Purifier Logic Class II, Type A2 Biosafety Cabinets are designed to discharge HEPA-filtered exhaust air directly into the laboratory, or into an exhaust system through the optional Canopy Connection. When canopy-connected, the biosafety cabinets may be used for applications involving minute quantities of volatile toxic chemicals and trace amounts of radionuclides as an adjunct to microbiological research. These benchtop cabinets are available in three-, four-, five- and six-foot nominal widths.
