They have a rigid frame that can withstand fluctuations in airflow, such as those created by variable air volume systems. Filter media is microfiber fiberglass. All have a neoprene gasket on the downstream side of the filter for a tight seal. Filters meet UL 900 flame retardance requirements, except 3" thick filters. Maximum temperature is 180° F, except 2 3/4" thick filters have a maximum temperature of 160° F.
