The automatic humidity control system monitors and displays relative humidity in each individual chamber for faster set-points and improved efficiency with reduced consumption of nitrogen gas.
How Nitroplex™ System Works:
High-accuracy, miniaturized humidity modules are installed in each chamber of the cabinet to provide independent monitor/control capability.
Each module is programmable to maintain a humidity set point from ambient down to 0%RH. Each module also features a miniature fan with super silent micro-motor technology to help mix and circulate nitrogen in the chamber.
Nitrogen is directed only where and when it’s needed to keep the %RH level below the user-specified set-point.
The influx of nitrogen gas pressurizes a chamber, causing moisture-laden air to be displaced and released through the automatic relief/bleed (RB) valves. This steady bleed causes the concentration of dry nitrogen gas inside the desiccator to increase until the desired RH level is reached.
When the RH set-point is reached, the system reverts from high-flow to low-flow nitrogen gas supply to maintain the set-point and conserve nitrogen.
When a door is opened, or when the relative humidity (RH) climbs above set-point level, the system re-activates high-flow to accelerate moisture removal.
The LED displays on a module will flash warning signals any time a chamber’s door is left open for too long or if the system remains in purge mode for too long.
ESD-Safe Design:
Conforms to DOD Handbook 263, MIL-SPEC 1686 and 1772 with selection of proper accessories.
Durable 304 stainless steel design is ideal for sterile and ESD-safe biomedical applications such as storage of medical device components with sensitive micro-electronics. Corrosion resistant 304 SS withstands frequent sterilization, and won't shed or accumulate particles.
Cabinet Design:
Automatic RB™ (Relief/Bleed) valves on each chamber relieve excess pressure inside the cabinet without allowing outside air or contaminants inside.
Stainless steel wire racks allow shelves to be positioned at 1” increments to accommodate different part sizes inside the nitrogen dry box; Shelves can also be removed and used as carrying trays.
Access doors with 304 stainless steel reinforced frames extend desiccator cabinet's service life and provide a tight seal.
Static-dissipative PVC windows safely conduct surface charges to ground, protect against particle aggregation, and have broad chemical resistance for easy sterilization.
Santoprene® “e”-shape non-outgassing rubber gasket firmly compresses to eliminate leaks. The one-piece resilient rubber gasket maintains its shape after compression and won't flatten, warp, crack, or degrade like ordinary foam gasket. Gasket is also mechanically attached to the door frame to avoid adhesive failure common with gasket tapes.
Heavy-duty lift latches prevent metal-on-metal scraping common with rotary latches; chrome-plated included standard; upgrade to all-stainless steel (304 or 316) to minimize scratching, corrosion and contamination resulting over time that can occur with chrome-plated latches.
Optional locking lift latches also available - specify one per chamber.
Durable stainless steel hinges eliminate corrosion, flaking, and contamination that commonly occur with ordinary chrome-plated hinges.
Hinges have an improved design with smooth surfaces, continuous edges, and a lift-off feature.
Order replacement door(s) to ensure uninterrupted service should a door ever be damaged and require replacement.

Stainless Steel Racks for Adjustable Shelf Storage Desiccators
Unlike common chrome-plated hardware, durable electropolished stainless steel racks for adjustable shelf storage desiccators help maintain a contamination-free storage environment. They resist corrosion and chipping/scratching from the sliding removable shelves.
Automatic Relief/Bleed Valve
Terra's Automatic Relief/Bleed (RB) Valve opens up at 0.01 PSI, relieving overpressure that could damage desiccators; also works as a check valve to prevent influx of room air.
Automatic RB Valve
During normal operation, it allows a continuous low-level release of gas to maintain a positive pressure. It also functions as a check valve to ensure that air and contaminants cannot enter the enclosure in the event of a momentary negative pressure.
