Stem Casters for Cleanroom Carts

The casters we offer on our carts are selected specifically to provide optimal performance in the cleanroom environment. They feature smooth-profile designs to enhance cleanliness, nonmarking materials to protect cleanroom floors, and durable construction to ensure a long service life. Stem casters mount inside the bottom of the vertical posts used in our carts.

Polyurethane is a synthetic rubber with significant resistance to temperature, shock, fuels, oxidation, detergent and oils. It offers a long life, with the wear resistance of hard rubber and the resilience of soft rubber, and high floor protection for use in a cleanroom environment.

These casters are available in 4" and 5" wheel diameters. For a given tire material, the larger the wheel, the easier it will roll. While 4" casters are suitable for light loads and ideal floor condition, 5" casters should otherwise be considered optimal. Select larger sizes if you anticipate very rough surfaces or obstacles such as elevator entrances or door sills.

High Modulus Cleanroom-Approved casters provide vibration dampening in controlled environments. Each includes a nickel horn, resilient tread wheel, dust cover and Celcon bearing. Resists virtually all cleaners, solvents, oils and acids. Not recommended for wet or humid environments.

High Modulus Cart-Washable Cleanroom-Approved casters can be washed with the power washers commonly used to clean carts. They are grease sealed with zerk fittings in the swivel and axle.

A Note on Load Ratings
"Rated Capacity" is, by definition, the maximum load per caster recommended by the manufacturer for use over smooth floors at operating speeds of 3 mph or less. As a general rule, the true load-bearing capacity of a four-caster cart is rarely more than three times the rated capacity of a single caster. Unbalanced loads, acceleration forces, cornering, uneven floors, and other obstacles place too great a demand on each wheel to permit extensive operation at full rated capacity.
