Framed vs. frameless cleanroom window designs
Frameless Flush Mount Cleanroom Windows
Frameless cleanroom windows feature a fully flush mount design with an attractive black border integral with the glass pane. This design allows the entire glass pane to mount flat against the wall for a truly seamless easy-to-clean finish. The black border on these flush mount windows is behind the glass pane so it can’t scratch or degrade over time.
Terra’s flush mount cleanroom windows feature a unique mounting system with no visible external fasteners or hardware for a showcase appearance. Frameless windows include 0.25"-thick tempered glass that overlays the wall surface on one or both sides. The glazing is attached to an internal stainless steel frame that is designed for quick, easy installation in a variety of wall materials and thicknesses.
Framed Flush Mount Cleanroom Windows
Framed cleanroom windows offer a low cost alternative to frameless cleanroom window designs for applications with less stringent cleanliness requirements. They feature a 2.75" wide 304 stainless steel outer frame mounted flush to the wall, allowing the glass pane to be recessed into the wall. The continuous seam welded and chemical resistant stainless steel frame provides a smooth, durable, easy-to-clean surface. 316L marine grade stainless steel is available for increased corrosion resistance.
Framed windows are also available in fire-rated designs, featuring a fully fire-rated frame assembly and window glazing, manufactured and tested in accordance with UL 9 and NFPA 80.
Framed windows include 0.5"-thick tempered glass pane. Similarly to frameless windows, framed windows use the same mounting system with no visible external fasteners or hardware for a showcase appearance.
Single-Glazed vs. Double-Glazed Construction
Terra offers single- and double-sided cleanroom window configurations. Both feature rigid inner frames constructed of durable and chemical resistant 304 stainless steel.
Single-Sided Cleanroom Window
Single-side construction has a clearly defined "clean" side and "dirty" side: the "clean" side is completely flush with the wall surface whereas the "dirty" side has a horizontal window ledge, which may be useful as a shelf, but may otherwise be problematic in a cleanroom environment that prohibits particle-gathering surfaces.
Double-Sided Cleanroom Window
Double-sided frame construction is designed for the window panes to sit completely flush on both sides of the wall, which makes this design both attractive and ideal for placement between adjacent rooms within a cleanroom.
What glazing options are available for cleanroom windows?
Terra’s cleanroom windows can be outfitted with a variety of glazing options specific to your facilities requirements. Common options include:

What window sizes are available for cleanroom windows?
Terra manufactures its windows to suit any size or wall thickness for both traditional built and modular wall systems. Specify your wall thickness and rough opening dimensions at the time of order.
Terra can also manufacture windows up to 50 square feet to serve as cleanroom viewing panels. Viewing panels are ideal where full floor-to-ceiling viewing sections are preferred.
