Softwall Modular Cleanrooms provide an economical,
versatile solution to clean manufacturing requirements
in semiconductor, medical device, and many other
industries. Portable, expandable, and easy to
assemble/disassemble, these cleanrooms are also
available on an accelerated delivery program to
meet your tight production schedule!
Unlike
other softwall modular cleanrooms on the market which require
complex suspended ceiling supports, Terra cleanrooms
are completely free-standing structures.
Use the catalog numbers below to specify a cleanroom with a powder-coated steel or 304 stainless steel frame. Then based on your desired floor plan, a Terra application specialist will quote you on a room configured for your appllcation. Components include Panels, Strip Shields, Strip Doors, and Filter/Fan Modules, as well as accessories and options.

Softwall Cleanroom Control Panel with Operation Status System
Mounted to the right of the access door,
this panel allows convenient control of filter/fan
units, lights, ionizing modules, and other environmental
monitoring equipment selected for your softwall
modular cleanroom. Fabricated of stainless steel.
Includes a status indicator light in each corner, which glows when Fan Filter Units are operating.

Softwall Cleanroom
Support Frame
|
|
The support frame is fabricated of interlocking
2.5" (64 mm) powder-coated square steel uprights, cross
sections, and ceiling members. Ceiling members
are connected to steel T-bars, forming the 2' x
4' (610 mm x 1219 mm) bays that support filters and lights. Corner
reinforcement gussets ensure a rigid structure.
Optional heavy-duty casters allow easy repositioning
after installation. Standard height is 7' (2134 mm) measured
from filter face to floor (8' 3", 2530 mm, overall), allowing
installation below a standard 9' (2743 mm) ceiling. Includes a control panel for operation of filter/fan
units, lights, and other selected options.
Note: Walls over 8' (2438 mm) long require an additional vertical
support member.

Softwall Cleanroom
Panels & Strip Shields
|
Softwall
panels are fabricated of heavy-duty, blur-free
40 mil material—double the industry standard—ensuring
enhanced tear resistance and eliminating the need
for unsightly sewn sash weights. Strip shields,
made of 60-mil material, come standard in 8" (203 mm) widths,
with 2" (51 mm) overlap, for easy entrance or exiting.
Polyurethane shields are 12" (305 mm) W, 40 mil thick.

- Cleanroom-Grade
Vinyl is fire retardant and low outgassing.
- Static-Dissipative
Vinyl is manufactured with permanent built-in
static inhibitors that, unlike topical treatments,
will not wear off.
- Non-outgassing
Panels are made from inherently static-dissipative
polyurethane that provides permanent, humidity-independent
ESD protection for sensitive manufacturing conditions.
Polyurethane contains no plasticizer, making it
virtually non-outgassing.

Softwall cleanroom
panels and strip shields attach to the support
frame by means of a unique noncontaminating Grip-Track™
mounting system that eliminates cracks and seams
where germs or particles can collect. Other mounting
systems are available.
Note: Softwall cleanroom panels are notched to ensure a snug
fit at all corners. In standard installations,
panels are supplied in lengths of four feet.
Where two panels meet, the panels overlap
by 6" (152 mm). To prevent personnel from parting panels
at these seams, order optional panel seaming,
Dual-Lock, magnetic closures,
or attachment clips below.

 Determining the Gap between Panel or Strip Shields and Floor
All softwall cleanrooms require some gap between the
panel and the floor to allow air to escape.
If this gap is too small to accommodate the flow
of air generated by the ceiling filter fans, then
panels and strips will billow outward. If it
is too large, the cleanroom will not maintain adequate
positive pressure.
In general, the formula to determine the gap is:
Gap in Feet = (Number of FFUs * 8 sq. ft. (0.74 m2) / Room Perimeter
Example: Take a clean room 16’ x 16’ x 7’ (4877 mm x 4877 mm x 2134 mm) high with 7 FFUs. The FFU surface area is 56 sq. ft. (5.2 m2), 7 FFUs * 8 sq. ft. (0.74 m2). The room perimeter is 64 feet (20 m) 16 ft.(4877 mm) * 4 (1219 mm). The gap is .875’ (27 mm) . 56 sq. ft./64 ft. (5.2 m2/ 19.5 m), or about 10” (254 mm). Order panels or strip shields 6 ft.(1829 mm) long. See ordering chart.
Selecting
the Proper Panel and Strip Shields Height
The above example show exactly the gap produced when a
6' (1829 mm) curtain is installed on a standard cleanroom
frame, since the curtain bead is mounted about
1.5" (38 mm) below the filter face (6'10.5", 2096 mm, above the
floor). If the same cleanroom included casters,
which raise the cleanroom about 6" (152 mm), then a 6'6" (2012 mm)
curtain would be appropriate.

Softwall Cleanroom Strip
Shield Doors
|
| Strip
shields can be ordered in convenient widths to
create access doors for softwall or hardwall cleanrooms.
By alternating strips of clear vinyl with frosted
vinyl, you eliminate both sticking and air gaps,
creating entrances that are cleaner and easier
to walk through.
Note: Strip Shield doors are free-hanging—standard installations
do not include attachment of the two sides to
adjacent panels or frame.

Cleanroom Casters
Stainless steel swivel casters feature nonshedding polyurethane
wheels. Capacity: 300 lbs. (136 kg.) each. Order one per vertical
post. Price includes installation. Casters raise the frame 7.125" (181 mm). If casters are ordered, the frame will be made shorter to keep the floor to filter face dimension to specification.
CAUTION: Casters are intended to allow movement only on smooth floors and require that personnel support each cleanroom upright during motion.

Dual-Lock Strips
For
sealing panels or strip shields to frame supports or
overlap areas, Terra offers non-particulating, clear 3M
Dual-Lock with plasticizer-resistant
adhesive. These strips are ideal for application along
the vertical frame uprights or along the vertical length
of a panel or strip, allowing corner or overlap attachment
that minimizes air leaks. Price includes sewing of mating
strips to specified panels. Use quantity to specify
desired number of feet (increments of 305 mm).
